Ruby Ihmels, a sophomore from BisPat Harriers (Bismarck), ran a huge lifetime best 16:34.6 for second place in the NXR Heartland regional on Sunday. Ihmels time was nine seconds behind winner Marissa Ferebee but 10 seconds under the previous meet record. Ihmels earned an individual qualifying spot to compete at Nike Cross Nationals.
